Green House Gas (GHG) Reduction
The ENTECH ADVANCED CONVERSION System reduces greenhouse gas emissions by eliminating the methane that would be produced if the waste was disposed of in landfill — methane has a global warming potential 23 times that of CO2. The typical greenhouse gas reduction due to methane elimination for Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) is approximately 1.5 tonnes CO2 equivalents (CO2e) per tonne of waste processed by the ENTECH system when compared to landfill alone.
Further reductions are realized from the electricity generated from the process that displaces power from other sources, such as coal, oil and even natural gas. The ENTECH Conversion System produces Syn-Gas which when combusted in the ENTECH thermal reactor produces the heat to generate electricity cleaner than by generating the same capacity of electricity from natural gas.
Other factors are taken into consideration such as minimizing truck transportation of waste combined with other environmentally unfriendly practices that may be currently used in an area are required to fully analyze the carbon footprint reductions the ENTECH-REM facilities can achieve.
