Advanced Conversion Technology is a low temperature process in comparison to all other thermal treatment processes for waste. With a 20 year track record and over 160 systems placed into operation, ENTECH – ACT systems have consistently demonstrated the capabilities of the process to be environmentally superior and a sustainable solution in the reduction of waste.
The primary cell of the ACT system (waste to gas WtGas™) operates in a sub-stoichiometric (oxygen reduced) environment over a long period of time to maximize the production of syn-gas and provide for complete conversion of residual waste materials.
The combined strategies and ACT process can achieve 98% diversion from landfill.
The 4 T’s of thermal treatment processes are:
- Temperature – ACT operates at <500 degrees C whereas other processes operate at >1,000+ degrees C
- Time – ACT processes waste over approximately 16+ hours providing COMPLETE DEGRADATION whereas some other processes require degradation in 5 minutes or less which leaves partially combusted materials behind requiring landfill
- Turbulence – ACT is a very passive environment inside the primary cell and produces virtually no fly ash whereas other processes are very turbulent producing large quantities of fly ash
- Toxicity – ACT residual ash is virtually inert and not harmful to the environment, in fact it can be used in several secondary markets and requires no landfill, whereas other processes have residual toxic waste which requires landfill in designated hazardous waste sites
ENTECH RENEWABLE ENERGY SYSTEMS
ENTECH Renewable energy systems for MSW-Biomass simultaneously address four key environmental concerns, Fossil Fuel Consumption Reduction, Biomass and Waste Disposal alternative to landfill, Atmospheric Emissions Reductions and Disease Control.
ENTECH’s unique and proven technology is based upon third generation combustion technology known as Advanced Conversion Gasification. The Gasification chamber or primary cell operates in a starved oxygen environment and is used to heat and convert waste and biomass in a combustible gas with properties similar to that of methane which are referred to as Syn-Gas.
The Syn-Gas is combusted and oxidized like conventional gas fuels at temperatures up to 1,400 degrees C in ENTECH’s unique gas burner type Thermal Reactor which provides the heat necessary to produce high temperature high pressure steam through a heat recovery boiler system.
The operating processes ensure emission control occurs within the process, rather than additional add-on equipment after combustion. The ENTECH Renewable Energy System is environmentally superior and more efficient than most other forms of combustion including Natural Gas.
The solid residue remaining after gasification is extracted from the primary cell gasification chamber and can be saleable as a commodity or disposed of in landfill as it is inert and non toxic.
The ENECH Renewable Energy System produces Nil discharge of waste water and operates cleaner than natural gas power generation of the same capacity.
